We promise little.
We deliver it all. 😎

What we don't promise
What we do
We don't promise friends for life.
But a few stick.
No singing bowls.
But there are timbales.
We don't guarantee magical moments.
But bring good shoes just in case.
We don't promise meditation.
But you'll be very present.
You won't "find yourself".
But when you get home, everything feels amazing.
What we do promise: salsa.

And who's behind this?

Hi, I'm Barbi

In late 2024 I was living in Amsterdam, coming out of a breakup and feeling pretty lost and broken.

One day, doing a journaling exercise, I had to imagine other possible lives. In one I wrote "salsa dancer". The exercise invited you to do something that brought you closer to one of those dreamed-up lives. I had no idea how to dance, but the other lives were even harder to reach. So I signed up for salsa classes five minutes from home.

A while later I went to Cali. Looking to feel something again... to at least lift my spirits by dancing salsa. And I started feeling better and better, more alive and happier. There, most of my new friendships had started with a "we met dancing" :)

This trip is handmade. Every class, every social, every experience is here because I lived it and it moved me. I don't include anything that didn't make me feel something. And part of all this is simply danced, each in their own way, and that's what makes it special :)

For me it was magical. And if something in all this calls you to come, if you decide to put your energy here, I hope it'll be magical for you too.

a hug, Barbi
i don't do it alone 💛

Friendly faces of the trip

Behind every trip there are people who add their flavour. Here are a few of them.

Ara
first traveller · designs the clothing

The first one to say "I'm in!" — she trusted We Met Dancing when this was barely an idea. She has her own clothing studio and is designing an incredible line for the brand. You can see her work on Instagram: @wearagainstudio.

Ara told me"I'm dying to show you the t-shirts! And I can't… so I can surprise you 🙈"
Seline
caleña at heart · Amsterdam

Dutch with a caleña fire inside. She arrived dancing salsa "en línea" and ended up at the Cali socials every night. Now she's starting to help me with the behind-the-scenes of the project. Want an honest second opinion on the trip and the city? Write to her.

Seline told me"If at any point you need any help, hit me up!"
Jefferson
dancer & teacher · Cali

A caleño dancer and teacher everyone knows and respects. They call him El Chamán, and he makes everyone around him feel good with his energy and charisma. On socials: @jeffersonminottaoficial.

El Chamán told me"I'm here for whatever you need, manita."

And +27 collaborators and local friends in Cali adding their flavour to every trip.

When the music plays, we all hit the same dance floor.
faq

What people usually ask us.

I'm coming on my own, is that weird?

Not at all, really. Almost all of us come the same way: travelling solo. It's the starting point, not a problem — and we promise nobody ends up watching from a corner.

I'm not a great dancer

No worries, nobody here cares about that. Caleña salsa is new to almost everyone, so you all start from scratch together. What really counts is attitude, not counting to eight elegantly.

Is there an age range?

Most people are between 28 and 40, but we don't leave anyone out for their age, and that's the beauty of it. What unites us is the dance floor, not your ID.

What about flights?

You book the flights yourself, so you choose the dates and price that suit you. But don't worry: we tell you exactly which airport to land at and at what time, and we handle the rest.

Where does the trip start?

In Cali. The city has an airport, so you choose where you fly from and at what price. The only thing that matters is being in Cali on day one; from there, we've got you :)

Is it a women-only trip?

Not at all. The group is mixed, with plenty of guys too. Here what unites us is dancing, not gender.

Is it only for Spanish and Latino people?

No 😊 People come from all over the world! That's part of what makes the trip amazing too… we bring together people who just want to dance and travel, no matter where you're from. Some trips will be guided purely in Spanish and others in English and Spanish.

Is Cali safe?

It's a big city and, like any big city, you need to use your head: keep your phone out of sight on the street and take a taxi or ride app at night. We stay in San Antonio, a calm neighbourhood full of life, and we go out as a group with people from Cali who know the city inside out.

What if something unexpected happens?

We've been there. On our first edition, an earthquake forced us to cancel the Pacific leg, and we set up alternatives on the spot: private classes, events, a museum and a hike. If anything important changes, we let you know as soon as possible and you can choose between an alternative or a refund, as set out in our booking terms.

How do I pay?

A €500 deposit confirms your spot. The rest is due by 1 December (in two payments for the full trip). There are 10 spots, allocated in order of booking.

What do I need to enter Colombia?

A passport valid for at least 6 months and your travel insurance, which is mandatory. Most European passports don't need a visa for tourism, but check yours. Within 72 h before your flight you need to fill in Check-MIG, the online form from Migración Colombia. For vaccines, ask your travel clinic: yellow fever is usually recommended for the Pacific coast.

What should I pack?

Comfortable shoes with soles that spin (no grippy rubber), light clothes, something long-sleeved for the air con and swimwear for the Pacific. And lots of energy 💃

Is my money protected?

Yes. Our trips are covered by the VZR Garant guarantee against insolvency: if We Met Dancing couldn't deliver the trip, VZR Garant takes care of your refund. How it works →

Will there be more trips and more countries?

Yes, of course! And not only Cali — we want to keep dancing around the world. Coming soon: Brazil and the Dominican Republic. 💃

Dancing is another way to travel.
